Nathaniel P.

I am of two minds about this book, Adelle Waldman’s The Love Affairs of Nathaniel P. I am two-thirds in and not sure how I feel about it. The third may well decide it for me. I alternately admire it and am annoyed by it. In short, the background character stuff, the how-they-got-there summary, is often brilliant. But when those same characters come to life in actual scenes, with dialogue happening in restaurants, I just don’t like any of them. This is the struggle. Nathaniel P.
